Product Summary
Construction and Materials
Dot Metal Products offers a range of flashing solutions designed for weatherization and protection in construction applications. The specific materials and construction methods employed are tailored to ensure durability and effective water management.
The core construction of Dot Metal Products' flashing typically involves high-quality metal that is formed to precise specifications. This metal is chosen for its resilience against environmental factors such as moisture, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations. The fabrication process often includes:
- Precision Cutting: Each piece of flashing is accurately cut to ensure proper fit and integration with building components.
- Forming and Bending: The metal is shaped using advanced machinery to create specific angles, lengths, and profiles required for different flashing types (e.g., drip edges, corner guards, valley flashing).
- Seaming and Joining: Where necessary, components are expertly seamed or joined to create a continuous, watertight barrier.
The primary materials used in the construction of Dot Metal Products' flashing include:
- Aluminum: A lightweight yet strong metal that is resistant to corrosion. It is often used in applications where weight is a consideration or where a non-rusting material is preferred.
- Galvanized Steel: Steel that has been coated with zinc to provide a protective barrier against rust and corrosion. This material offers excellent durability and is a cost-effective choice for many building projects.
- Stainless Steel: Known for its superior corrosion resistance and strength, stainless steel is utilized in demanding applications where longevity and resistance to harsh conditions are paramount.
These materials are selected for their inherent properties that contribute to the overall performance of the flashing. The thickness and gauge of the metal are carefully chosen to balance strength, flexibility, and ease of installation. Furthermore, the finishes available for these metals can enhance their aesthetic appeal and add an extra layer of protection against the elements.

Options-Styles
Dot Metal Products offers a range of flashing solutions designed for various weatherization and building applications. Their products are crafted from metal to provide durable and effective protection against water intrusion and environmental elements.
The primary styles available focus on the functional design of the flashing, tailored to specific areas of a building envelope where water management is critical. These include:
- Drip Flashing: This style is engineered to direct water away from building surfaces, such as window sills, doors, and roof edges, preventing moisture from seeping into the structure.
- Step Flashing: Designed for use where a sloped surface meets a vertical wall, such as around chimneys or dormers. The interlocking design of step flashing allows it to shed water effectively while accommodating the angles of the roof.
- Vent Flashing: Specific to areas around vents and pipes that penetrate the roof. This type of flashing creates a watertight seal to prevent leaks that can occur at these common entry points for water.
- Valley Flashing: Used in roof valleys, the areas where two sloping roof sections meet. This flashing channels water down the roof and away from the vulnerable junction.
- Corner Flashing: Applied at exterior corners of walls or where siding meets other building elements. This flashing protects against water ingress at these often-exposed and structurally important areas.
The materials used in the construction of these flashing products are selected for their longevity and resistance to corrosion. Common metal types include:
- Galvanized Steel: Offers a good balance of strength and corrosion resistance, making it a cost-effective option for many applications.
- Aluminum: Lightweight and naturally resistant to rust, aluminum flashing is a durable choice, especially in coastal or high-humidity environments.
- Copper: Known for its exceptional durability and aesthetic appeal, copper flashing is a premium option that develops a protective patina over time.
Dot Metal Products aims to provide builders and contractors with reliable metal flashing components that are integral to maintaining the integrity and longevity of a building's exterior. The specific design and material of each flashing piece are intended to address particular weatherization challenges, ensuring comprehensive protection against moisture damage.
