Construction and Materials
Wincore Windows & Doors offers a range of door components, specifically transoms and sidelights, designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of entryways. These products are crafted with attention to detail and quality materials to provide durable and visually pleasing additions to any home.
Construction and Materials
The construction of Wincore transoms and sidelights focuses on durability and energy efficiency. While specific material compositions can vary based on the exact model and customization options chosen, the general approach emphasizes robust framing and high-quality glass.
- Frames: Wincore typically utilizes premium vinyl or composite materials for their frame construction. These materials are chosen for their inherent resistance to warping, rotting, and insect damage, ensuring longevity and minimal maintenance. The frames are engineered for structural integrity, providing a secure housing for the glass and a tight seal against the elements.
- Glass: The glass options are a key component in both the appearance and performance of these door accessories. Wincore offers a variety of glass types, often including:
- Insulated Glass Units (IGUs): These consist of two or more panes of glass separated by a layer of inert gas (like argon) or air. This construction significantly improves thermal performance, reducing heat transfer and contributing to energy savings.
- Decorative Glass: Options for decorative glass are available to add a unique architectural touch. These can include etched, frosted, or patterned glass designs, as well as options with custom inserts or intricate leaded glass patterns.
- Low-E Coatings: Many Wincore products feature Low-E (low-emissivity) coatings. This microscopically thin coating reflects infrared light, which helps to keep heat inside during colder months and outside during warmer months, further enhancing energy efficiency.
- Tempered and Laminated Glass: For enhanced safety and security, tempered glass (which shatters into small, dull pieces when broken) and laminated glass (which holds together when broken due to an inner layer) may be incorporated into certain designs.
- Sealing and Weatherstripping: High-performance seals and weatherstripping are integrated into the frame and sash designs. This meticulous attention to sealing helps to prevent air and water infiltration, contributing to a more comfortable interior environment and protecting the home from moisture damage.
- Hardware and Reinforcement: Depending on the specific configuration of the transom or sidelight, reinforcement may be incorporated into the frame to ensure structural stability, especially for larger units.
The overall construction methodology aims to create a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also built to withstand various weather conditions while contributing to the energy efficiency of the home.
